Comparison

Ludi or Superprof: a comparison for private tutors

If you are weighing a Superprof alternative for tutors, the real difference is what happens after a student says yes. This comparison shows who pays each platform, how the money reaches you and what each one offers for the lesson itself, using Superprof Brazil's official pages (superprof.com.br) checked in October 2026.

In short

  • On Superprof Brazil, tutors advertise for free and pay no commission on lessons; the student pays instead, with the Passe Aluno (student pass) at R$69 a month (October 2026).
  • Every new tutor on Superprof Brazil must offer a free first lesson, one hour by default and at least 30 minutes long.
  • On Superprof, student and tutor settle payment directly, off the site, and Superprof does not guarantee it; we found no built-in classroom, calendar or billing.
  • On Ludi, lessons, scheduling and payment live in one place: the teacher receives the price they set, and a 3% or 10% fee is added on top and paid by the student.

The difference in one sentence

Superprof works like a classifieds board for tutors: you publish an ad, the student pays for a pass to get in touch, and from then on the two of you arrange lessons, times and payment directly. Ludi is the teacher's workspace: lessons, scheduling, packages and payment all happen inside it, with the public directory as an extra storefront. One is a front door; the other is where the lesson takes place.

How Superprof makes money

  • Free ads for tutors, up to 5 of them. The terms do not allow contact details in the ad.
  • No commission on lessons: Superprof Brazil's page for tutors promises no commission at all.
  • The student pays: the Passe Aluno (student pass) costs R$69 a month and is charged when the first tutor accepts the lesson request.
  • Professional Plan for tutors, optional: R$269 a year.
  • Mandatory free first lesson for new tutors: one hour by default, at least 30 minutes. Only tutors with Super Professor status can switch it off.
  • Payment happens off the site: student and tutor settle it between themselves, and Superprof does not guarantee it.
  • No credential checks: according to the terms, Superprof does not verify tutors' qualifications.

Superprof Brazil (superprof.com.br) information checked in its terms of use and official pages in October 2026; it may change. If you teach from another country, check the terms that apply where you are.

How Ludi charges teachers

  • Free plan: up to 3 active students and 24h of live lessons a month, no card needed.
  • Paid plans from R$99 a month (Brazilian reais) with Essential, which covers up to 10 active students and 80h of live lessons. Your public profile in the teacher directory starts on this plan.
  • Lesson packages: a 3% fee for students you bring yourself and 10% for students who find you through your Ludi profile or a partner's coupon, in effect since October 1, 2026. The fee is added on top of your price and paid by the student: you receive the amount you set.
  • Payment inside the platform: Pix or card in Brazil; card via Stripe or Wise transfer from abroad, in reais, dollars or euros, with automatic finances in your dashboard.
  • Material sales through your storefront: a 5% Ludi fee, taken from the price.
  • Payment provider fees are separate.

Prices as of October 2026. All limits and add-ons are on plans for teachers.

Running the numbers: 10 lessons at R$80

Example: a new student takes 10 one-hour lessons with you at R$80 each, or R$800. For reference, the average price of English lessons advertised on Superprof Brazil was R$62 an hour across 57,975 tutors, according to the site's page accessed on October 15, 2026.

ScenarioStudent paysYou receiveYour cost

In money terms, the gap is small. On Superprof, the platform's cost falls on the student, through the pass, and on you, through the free lesson. On Ludi, it falls on the student, through the fee, and on you, through the plan fee when there is one. The difference is everything else: on Superprof you still have to pick a classroom, a calendar and a way to charge, and you carry the risk of not getting paid alone. To work out your price, see how much to charge for private lessons.

Where Superprof is stronger

  • Zero cost to start: free ads, no commission and no required subscription.
  • The pass is the student's cost: the student pays to get in touch, not you.
  • A big storefront: for English lessons alone, Superprof Brazil's page listed 57,975 tutors on October 15, 2026. That means plenty of eyes, and plenty of competition.
  • Full freedom: price, time, tools and payment method are agreed between you and the student.

Ludi is a new platform and its directory is still growing. If you want to be found without paying anything, a Superprof ad is a front door that Ludi does not currently replace at the same volume. For other sources, see how to find private students.

When Ludi makes more sense

  • You want to charge by package inside the platform instead of asking for a transfer after every lesson and tracking who paid.
  • You want to teach where you prepare: whiteboard, interactive worksheets, slides and games. See Ludi or Zoom, Kahoot and Hotmart.
  • You want a calendar with recurring lessons and automatic finances, without a spreadsheet.
  • You have students abroad and want to charge in dollars or euros. See how to get paid by international students.
  • You want to sell your own e-books or materials through a storefront, with a 5% fee.

Can you use both?

Yes. Under Superprof Brazil's terms, once the first contact is made, payment is already arranged directly between you and the student, off the site. If you both decide to hold the lessons on Ludi, invite the student: they join as your own student, with a 3% package fee that they pay. Follow Superprof's rules: no contact details or links in your ad, and give the free first lesson when it is required. To compare with marketplaces that sit in the middle of the lesson, see Ludi or italki.

Frequently asked questions

Does Superprof charge tutors a commission?

Not in Brazil. According to its official pages, checked in October 2026, ads are free and there is no commission on lessons. The student pays instead, with the Passe Aluno at R$69 a month; the tutor's Professional Plan, at R$269 a year, is optional.

Does the first lesson on Superprof have to be free?

For new tutors, yes. Superprof Brazil's terms require a free first lesson, one hour by default and at least 30 minutes long, and only tutors with Super Professor status can switch it off.

How do tutors get paid on Superprof?

Directly by the student, in whatever way you agree, off the site. Superprof Brazil's terms say the platform does not guarantee that payment: if the student does not pay, collecting it is up to you.

Can I use Ludi with a student who found me on Superprof?

Under Superprof Brazil's terms, lessons and payment are arranged directly between tutor and student, off the site. If you decide to hold the lessons on Ludi, invite the student: they join as your own student, and the 3% package fee is added on top of your price and paid by them. Just keep contact details out of your ad, which the terms do not allow.

Does Ludi have a tutor directory like Superprof?

Yes, from the Essential plan up: students find your profile and contact you directly, and payment happens inside Ludi. But the directory is newer and smaller, so treat it as an extra storefront, not your only source of students.
